July 29 – Deuteronomy 6:5

Deuteronomy 6:5

Yesterday I was dusting (yes, believe it!), and when I’d finished with the rocking chair, it was still rocking a little.

Reminded me of the people from West Virginia who stayed with us a while. They panicked if I got up and left a rocking chair rocking, because “it means somebody is going to die, now.” So I pondered — so glad that our God doesn’t kill people because someone left a rocking chair rocking. What makes Him angry? Lying, cheating, injustice, hurting or ignoring the poor and weak. He is giving and SO merciful, even though we don’t deserve it. “Just ask, ” He says.

It should be EASY to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” What kind of God do we have whose commands to us are: Love Me. Love each other. Love Me. Love each other.

Love Me… Love each other… Love Me… Love each other.
Sounds like the rocking of a chair.
