July 30 – Deuteronomy 6:6

Deuteronomy 6:6
And these words, which I am commanding you this day, shall be [first]in your own mind and heart; [then]…

It goes on to say that we need to teach them to our children, but that’s for tomorrow. Today we have to learn them ourselves. Not just learn them — but have them in our hearts. DO them. Live them. We don’t ever know them until we do them (James 1:23-25). And what is He asking you? To love, to forgive, to break this bondage or that bad habit? Whatever it is, at some point it’s going to seem too hard a thing to ask of you! “I’ve tried, Lord, but I can’t.” The writer of Hebrews asks if we’ve struggled against sin to the point of shedding our own blood! Wow. But Jesus did. He shed HIS blood for OUR sin. Ask Him for help till you win. This is the point of knowing His Word — not to make us smarter, but to change us — to make us better. And then we’ll truly know it, so that….[to be continued!]
