August 1 – Deuteronomy 6:7-9

Deuteronomy 6:7-9
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Some of the ways seem like — just as you go about your day, remember God’s words in everything you do. See the natural, everyday things as ways to teach your kids about God. Nature is full of analogies — and you’re good at seeing them, too, Annie. But some of the other ways seems very purposeful. Creating reminders for yourself all around you. And those things also make for good teaching times — purposeful teaching times — for your kids.

These are such great, practical ideas, Mom! It makes me want to go print out a bunch of Bible verses.
Of course they’d need pictures. And probably lamination. And some ribbon hangers. And then maybe they should be in alphabetical order, or one for each weekly topic… 🙂
This verse leaves a lot of room for both planning and just everyday mindfulness, doesn’t it?
