August 19 – Isaiah 26:3

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Remember talking about this verse before? This is when the word for peace is repeated — the only time this occurs. “I will keep you in peace peace.” Since we’re wondering HOW to keep our hearts at peace, this might be a good verse to study! It sounds so easy, but, to be honest, most of the time when I’ve tried to keep my mind “stayed” on the Lord, it feels like it becomes a battleground, not “peace.” (And this is exactly one of those areas where, if I could just learn how to conquer it, I could be a guide to others.) Somehow I think the trusting in God is key. Trusting God — maybe even to keep our minds stayed on Him? Suddenly I’m finding myself wanting to talk to Him about this…..
