Zipping By

This has been such a busy week, and Wednesday has already come – the day I would normally post on my blog.

I haven’t had time for cooking adventures or for processing pictures this week. Instead, today I’m leaving a post that I wrote a few weeks ago. I hope to be back tomorrow with a bit more to say!

Shutter speed: 1000 to 2500
Aperture f/8 to f/10
ISO 2000 to 3200

Did you have dragonflies swarming your yard late this summer, too?

I think these were common blue darner dragonflies (based on a brief Google search).

I wonder if dragonflies have any awareness of how amazing they are, or of the God who had their intricate existence planned long ago. Are they just buzzing around looking for their next meal?

They are fast buggers. The pictures above make me laugh because I feel like I got away with something. I don’t have a macro lens, and even if I had one, there was no way to focus on these superfast miniature choppers. Instead, I focused on the grass and hoped a dragonfly would zip into the focal plane long enough for me to snap the shutter!

I’ll end with a better shot that I took shortly after we moved here. I think this is a widow skimmer dragonfly. I love its shimmering wings.

Until I get my other post up (maybe tomorrow?), be sure to check the devotional section. Shelly, a dear family friend, has been writing about the secret of contentment. Plus, Mom’s one year of writing daily devotions is almost over! More on that later, too.

May your Wednesday be full of intricate awareness!
