October 19 – Psalm 37:4
Psalm 37:4 Amp
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
In front of this verse in my Bible, I wrote in: Make it your lifetime heart-attitude to (Delight yourself, etc.). Live a life of making the Lord your delight. He will see you well-rewarded! And He knows just exactly what would delight you …. even better than you do. Remember the starfish story? [From Captivating, by John and Stasi Eldredge]
The first week that I wrote to Annie, she would respond in writing on the back of the card. I asked her this morning if I could write what she wrote — which will also make you, as it did me, wonder why I was writing to her!
From Annie: This goes with trusting Him. How can we be delighted in His ways if we don’t trust Him? Seems like this would logically lead to “doing good.” At first, I think this will be a struggle to give up control in hard times, until I finally am “confident in” the Lord. In each scenario, decide to “delight yourself in the Lord,” who He is and what He will do if we trust Him, and to know that He way will produce more fruit than our way would.
