Mark 4:24 Living Bible
And be sure to put into practice what you hear.
The more you do this, the more you will understand
what I tell you.
Again, more of the upside-down kingdom!
We do and then we understand. We hear
and we put into practice. Reading the Bible
should be changing us, making us more like
Jesus. It could become law, though, so ask
God to be changing your heart, too. As we
obey, He gives us more. More understanding…
and more to obey, too!! 🙂

The “obeying leads to understanding” concept is fascinating. I suppose it would work for learning to cook, too – just do it and eventually you’ll understand it. That requires trust.
So many times, in the process of trying to obey, I’ve discovered something in me that resists. The process of dealing with that “something” is nit-gritty hard, and healing, too. I think that’s why we understand after , rather than before, we obey. We don’t really realize there’s a problem until then.
