April 13 – Proverbs 31:25
Proverbs 31:25 Amplified
Strength and dignity are her clothing and her
position is strong and secure. She rejoices over
the future — the latter day or time to come
[knowing that she and her family are in readiness
for it]!
clothed — that would be for her own protection,
and it would also be what others would see of her.
strength — physical maybe yes, but don’t you
sense it being moral and spiritual? Strength is for
what? To fight, to lift, to resist, to work.
dignity — I looked it up. “The quality of being
worthy or honourable; true worth, excellence.”

This one reminds me of the “inside-out Jesus”. Because so many of us seek to look dignified, but it comes out like yucky pride. So many of us seek to look strong, but it just ends up us trying to stay busy and do everything ourselves. “Seek first His Kingdom… and all these things will be added”. If we are in Jesus, then our dignity comes from being free from shame and sure of who we are. Our strength comes from resting in His ability to provide all that we need.
Her “position” is being in God’s hands, and believe me, that’s about as sure as it comes!
I love her strength (lack of worry) thinking about the future. As a mother/wife, it is hard not to be a worrier, but take them all to Jesus every day, and rest….knowing that “all things work together for the good of those who love Him.”
Thanks for my devotions, Mom.
Wow, Annie. I know what I’m asking for MY birthday next year! I’ll even buy the 3×5″s!
