A Family Day Away
Twenty-eight days left until we MOVE HOME!!!! I’d post a picture of me doing jumping jacks for joy, but you’ll probably just have to imagine it! 🙂
I will post a rare picture of myself, though:
This post is later in the day than I usually like to post on Wednesdays. We have a lot going on! Plus, this week I decided to kill two birds with one stone by completing (and posting) some pages for our family scrapbook. (These are mostly small two-page spreads. Click on any image to see it just a little bigger.)
The day after my rough post a couple Wednesdays ago, our family had a nice afternoon out together. My husband went to a rural town to cover for a local doctor, and the kids and I drove down that Thursday to visit him.
This was a different small town from the one I’ve posted about here and here. There’s a beautiful park in this town, and we spent most of our time on the playground equipment.
Last time we went, more than a year ago, we had such a fun time feeding ducks. Unfortunately, this time there were geese asserting their presence. Geese are scary. My husband walked the kids over there, one at a time, so he could fend off the geese while the kids threw bird seed. We finally gave up and went back to the playground – but the geese knew we had bird seed, and they followed us! The kids, completely terrified, ran up to the top of the play equipment.
The fiercely protective mother that I am, I had to get a shot of them hiding. I’d do anything to keep my kids safe!
Actually, I am a fiercely protective mother. Shamelessly and unapologetically. Sometimes, though, geese just happen, and there’s not much you can do about it.
The last time we were there, the baby hadn’t been born, and my younger daughter was about the age the baby is now. She was sitting up, but not walking or talking. Now she’s talking up a storm and keeping us laughing!
My older daughter sure had fun! She’s a little athlete!
This was the baby’s first swing ride:
And my sweet older son (opposite the first page I posted, of me):
At the end of the day, we headed over to the local brewery. I love this place. It feels open, comfortable, and kid-friendly. The food is relaxed and very good.
My journaling at the end of this page says that we made another offer on the house with the orchard the next day – and the offer was accepted! We needed that day away to hash through our priorities. I hope we’ll make plenty of warm family memories together in our new home.
If only all of life could be figured out by a family day away… I could go for lots more of them!

Daddy and Unco Wigo and I read this together. A fun post to be reading. Very family-ish. And ….. we are feeling festive, anyway. Unco Wigo just got his driver’s license!
Woohoo! Watch out world! 🙂
I absolutely love these pictures. And the warm feelings they evoke. Yay for building family memories! What fantastic scrapbook pages these are!!
I love those scrapbook pages! So beautiful!
I love the picture of your three older children in the play-scape, and the baby in the swing is priceless!
