August 27 – Proverbs 13:11

Proverbs 13:11
Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

I don’t know why this verse is so encouraging to me. It sort of seems like “duh.” But the little-by-little-ness of it is helpful, and not just with money. With time, with parts of a project, with character. Each tiny step forward IS important. It becomes part of a whole. Or, in wanting to lose weight (which is not your issue, you skinny new mama!), this one cookie does matter. Little by little. And this one time does make a difference. When we first moved back here, Daddy had a job making about $90 a week. And any overtime (which might be about $5 or $6) we put in savings. Every single week. Funny — it’s far from the most we’ve ever saved, but it’s the best we’ve ever felt about saving!

This is encouraging, Mom! All those little decisions add up over the years. I like the story about you & Daddy – I didn’t know that.

Slow and steady wins the race comes to mind as I read this, or he who is faithful in the small things…
