August 31 – Mark 4:2, 4:34

A note from Debbie: Mom has been writing daily devotions to Annie on three-by-five cards since last October. In February, the computer-ambivalent, non-facebook-user allowed me to start posting her devotions on the blog! Writing and posting can be tiring, especially during very busy times. I’m giving Mom a break this week, plus letting Annie hear a little of a different family member’s heart. The next five devotions will be from me, focusing on Mark chapter four.

Mark 4:2, 4:34
He taught them many things by parables… He did not say anything to them without using a parable.

I’ve always been impressed with Ann Voskamp’s ability to draw spiritual lessons from everyday life. I can’t be Ann Voskamp – for so many reasons – but I have wondered about incorporating more everyday creativity into my spiritual life.

It’s so much like Jesus’ style!

“See that tree over there? The branches draw their life from the trunk. What happens when you lose connection with the Tree?”

“Once upon a time there was a gardener who planted some zucchini seeds…”

What lessons can we draw simply from meditating on life around us?

  1. Mom says:

I agree. I’ll bet if we kept our eyes and hearts open, He’d be speaking to us all the time.
