October 10 (B) – Practice!
The Secret of Being Content: Practice!
Devotion by Shelly
Philippians 4:9
Yes, being a growing and obedient Christian takes work, it’s not for pansies. Paul says, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me — put it into Practice.”
One must practice the Presence of God, Praying, seeking Protection from a position of God’s peace and pointing the thoughts to truth. It does not come naturally and one goes backwards as soon as one stops daily practicing! Just like in physical exercise. But remember, the God of Peace is with you.
Seems like a “duh” when you put it that way, but it’s something I need to be reminded of. Like a new piano piece that you think will never sound good. But making your fingers do the same thing over and over the same way – – it must make a groove in your brain, so it just comes so easily after lots of practice. Maybe our thoughts could be the same way. The first hint of worry immediately takes you to the groove of thankfulness and praise after practicing it that way. Good thoughts, Shelly.
