In the Meantime…
I’m trying to see how many times I can say “in the meantime” today. Anybody counting?
In the meantime, while you’re counting, I thought I’d put up some quick links to posts that have encouraged me lately:
About being a hostess:
Homemaking, Hospitality, and Tea
I’ve never been on that site before, but this post was timely for me. It certainly challenged my way of thinking! (And yes, she is giving away a tea cozy, and no, that wasn’t why I posted the link. But the tea cozies are cute!)
About doing housework without recognition:
Life Ain’t No Fairytale
This is from a dear friend I haven’t met (yet). I love the truth told with kindness and humor!
About reflecting on the reasons for the things we choose to do (photography, in this case):
The Why
This is written by a professional photographer who shares so many of my life experiences. This was good for me as I consider my choice of hobbies. I want to write a post like this from an amateur’s perspective!
I’m taking a blogging break to get ready for a huge party this weekend.
In the meantime…
What has encouraged you lately? Posts? Books? Something someone did? We can all use some cheer – please tell!
Ok, I’m off to mop the floor. Don’t let me on here again until the party’s over!
Two things. One is a duh, but it still helped me. I was talking to Tim about how overwhelmed I was, and he said to make a list and then WORK HARD at it for the time you have. I thought that if I just did that for two hours every day, I might begin to see progress. The other was from II Timothy. (Hmmm — both encouragements from Timothys today) That God gave us a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. I’d read “sound mind” for the discipline part before, but one translation said self-discipline, so I looked it up in Strongs, and it said “self-discipline, with an implication that this discipline demonstrates prudence and wisdom.” Ok, God, I’ll take that!
I love the new look on your site! The categories at the top and the names on the side. nice! I’ll be thinking of you for your party! I love hosting parties, just not cooking–that really overwhelms me. I hope it goes well!
