Grown-Up Chocolate-Dipped Sugar Cookie Variations

Annie came over a few weeks, ago, and we had fun experimenting with sugar cookie flavor variations.

She started by making a basic sugar cookie recipe. (Click here for a recipe from Martha Stewart. Don’t forget to leave time to chill the dough.)

Then we divided the dough and mixed and matched flavors. Below, she was trying Bailey’s Irish Cream, ground coffee beans, and orange zest.

She used a champagne flute to create small rounds.

The kids had fun using a cookie press to make a few spritz cookies! Just don’t let them have the coffee bean variety very close to bedtime. 🙂

Beautiful Annie:

Once the cookies baked and cooled, Annie dipped them in chocolate.

Semi-sweet chocolate with coffee grounds makes for a mildly sweet cookie, good for an afternoon visit while kids are napping. Let the chocolate fully cool before testing the flavor! Enjoy!

Yummmm! Makes my mouth water! Which kind was the best?

When we accidentally mixed the orange zest, coffee, and Bailey’s into one batch. The best accident was when we tried to mix Bailey’s and nuts into the melted Ghirardelli’s. It wasn’t dippable, but still edible. 😉
